Usually sequels aren't as good as the Part 1 of a movie or series, besides Godfather Part 2( Great movie). But our second experience at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa was one for the ages!!! Seeing familiar faces made our visit even better. AJ, the facility manager was very welcoming. Carol, the Concierge, was helpful with new locations to enjoy, Michaela and Kim, the two bartenders poured and poured generously, Jake, who was a bartender himself and now is a Food and Beverage manager made sure we were taken care of at all times in all three areas of food and drink, Anita and Adrian, the hostess and waiter, made our NIIJII dining incredibly enjoyable. Anita said "Hi" to us every time we passed the restaurant, LOL!! And lastly, the AERIE Feast at their premier resturant, I have no words. We thought the Sea Bass we had in February was untouchable. But when I tell you the Tomahawk steak was cut with a fork and literally melted in our mouths would be an understatement. It was even BETTER!!! We have decided to come back at the same time of year every year. We tried to stay another night, but when we realized the Junior Suite was booked we decided not to. Once you enjoy the comfort, space and the FRICKEN water closet, it's hard to go back to a single room and shower!! Thanks to you and your Great Staff once again! We will never forget your generosity and accommodating hospitality. See you all next year!

Poor customer service. I am staying at the Grand Traverse Resort Hotel for two nights for a work conference. The room costs $241.00 per night. My room was very cold, and I realized after an hour that the air conditioning would not stop blowing and the room temperature continued to drop. I contacted the front desk for help and they said they would send someone up. I called again after an hour, and about 30 minutes later, an engineer arrived to help. Unfortunately, he could not fix the problem, so he supplied me with a space heater, after taking the thermostat off the wall and stating he didn’t know how to fix it. I went back to talk to someone in the lobby about switching rooms, but they were unable to help. They did not offer any concern, options to make it right, or solutions for the night. In fact, I was told there are no rooms available—the website, however, indicates otherwise. For the cost of this hotel, I was expecting at least a foundational level of respect and assistance, especially considering the hotel is hosting a conference serving 1200 mental health professionals. I will advise community mental health to look elsewhere for future conventions.

I would leave it less but can't. I was here for a state education conference. I had reserved Saturday through Wednesday. When I checked in I noticed that the room door did not shut without a strong push going in and a pull going out. I decided it was the humidity - and that I could put that effort in. Saturday night I found a bug after bringing in food from a property restaurant. Grossed out - but decided it was from the restaurant and not the room. MISTAKE I woke up Tuesday morning to multiple bugs in my room (see picture). I decided to leave the concert a day early. As I go to the front desk, I brought the bug as proof for the early checkout. No Sorry's - No we will get on that - instead they asked shall we put the balance on this card XXXX. Which was the wrong card! They did ask - well did you ask for someone to come and clean the room? In reviewing the bill after the card was charged - because that is when the staff gave me something to review - I noticed they charged me for the last night! I asked why did you charged me for the last night? The response was because you had a group rate (for the conference) and they charge for the hole reservation even if you leave early. I asked to speak to a manager - no one was available and maybe someone will call me back. Seriously! The bugs should have been enough, The door should have been a We are Sorry, The charging for the additional night is ridiculous.

As someone who grew up in Northern Michigan, it’s incredibly disappointing to see how far Grand Traverse Resort has fallen in terms of quality and service. At $500 per night, the bare minimum should include clean accommodations, basic functionality, and courteous staff. Unfortunately, none of that was delivered during my recent stay. The room had a coffee maker that only produced cold coffee, a wet floor beneath the desk (which raises serious hygiene concerns), and an air conditioning unit that was so loud it made it difficult to sleep. These are not minor issues—they reflect a disregard for guest comfort and safety. Staff interactions were consistently unhelpful, and when I brought these concerns to management, including Manager Rebecca Olson, I was denied both a full and partial refund. That level of indifference from leadership is unacceptable at any price point, let alone one that rivals luxury resorts. To add insult to injury, on-site pricing was absurd—$20 for a peanut butter cookie and a medium coffee. Families visiting the area deserve far better than being nickel-and-dimed at every turn. I also booked through *******, which proved equally disappointing. Their customer service offered no support and had no authority to intervene, making it clear that booking through third-party platforms no longer provides any meaningful consumer protection. In short: this was an expensive, unpleasant experience that I would not recommend to anyone. Visitors to Northern Michigan should look elsewhere for value, comfort, and integrity.

Overall was excellent. Unfortunately, the fitted sheet smelled unwashed, and as soon as I removed the comforter, the odor was noticeable along with crumbs of food on it. There were also ants in the room. I requested new sheets, and housekeeping arrived within minutes.

Service was great and really enjoyed the facility but food at restaurant especially breakfast was below average and wait times for breakfast were long.
